Cole Krease
The hockey world was rocked by the sudden passing of famous goalie Lorne "Gump" Worsley. Gump was a lovable figure, with his roly poly body shape, his army-style crew cut, and his reputation for being rather funny around his teammates.
Many stories have been written about the fact that the Gumper was one of the very last NHL goalies to play without a mask. Most people believe that it has been decades since a pro goalie played the game bare faced. Not so says Hockey Spy.com.
Once again our spycam has the evidence. There is a journeyman goalie still employed in the minor pro ranks who is playing his 34th season. He has never worn a mask. His name is Cole Krease. The most remarkable part of this story is the fact that in 34 years, he has never been hit in the face even once. People say he looks as good today as he did in his prime. If he didn't love hockey so much he says he would have accepted one of the dozens of offers he's received to be a male model. GQ Magazine's loss is pro hockey's gain.
