Female Junior Players

As a rule the major junior hockey leagues in Canada tend to follow the lead of the NHL when it comes to rules of play etc. However the CHL's three junior leagues were credited with real leadership when they launched their crackdown on hits to the head. Obviously the NHL could learn something from the juniors on this issue.

Hockey Spy.com has learned that junior hockey has another new plan that the NHL will be watching closely. As of next year all major junior teams will be expected to sign at least one female player to their roster. These highly skilled females will be treated the same as the boys when it comes to weekly money, supplied sticks and supplied equipment. The only exception will be with the skates. Word has it that the girls will be given a slightly differerent style of skate that the rest of the squad.
